HURFORD SALVI CARR PREDICTS A BRIGHT OUTLOOK FOR BOUTIQUE DEVELOPMENTS IN 2008 Hurford Salvi Carr, specialist estate agent for the City, Docklands and West End believes the smaller ‘boutique’ development will be immune from the downward pressures of the property market in 2008 due to continued demand for high-specification apartments in popular postcodes.

Paul Driscoll, Director of Hurford Salvi Carr’s City branches, expects to see demand continue to outstrip supply in this niche market. “So far we have experienced very little slow down in owner-occupier enquiries for one and two bedroom apartments and penthouses in boutique developments in areas such as property barbican, property clerkenwell, Bloomsbury and the City. Aspirational, design-driven developments in key locations have a strong target market that includes successful young bankers, lawyers and creatives who have a clear idea of what they want and the income to finance it,” comments Paul.

A good example of this type of development is The Wenlock Building in Islington by hip developers Modern City Living and Londonewcastle and marketed by Hurford Salvi Carr. Only fourteen apartments remain since its launch in mid 2007 with completion expected in 2008.
